Earth-style gameplay requires both a land/nation ruleset and a map strategy. A real-world Earth map alone does not create claims, diplomacy or economy; these come from independently configured plugins.
Land and nations
Towny supports towns and nations; Lands is a different land-management system. Choose one primary claims authority instead of allowing two plugins to decide ownership of the same block. Validate resident permissions, plot resale, nation relations and admin override.
Web maps
BlueMap, Dynmap and squaremap are map-rendering alternatives. Compare disk usage, render load, privacy and player marker policies. Hosting a web map does not implement land ownership; check your claim plugin integration separately.
Trading and economy
QuickShop-Hikari and ChestShop provide physical shop flows; an economy provider manages balances. Jobs Reborn and player warps add different systems. Check taxation, bank permissions, currency inflation and shop refunds before allowing trade at scale.
Admin and recovery
LuckPerms handles staff roles; CoreProtect logs incidents, DiscordSRV bridges chat and InventoryRollbackPlus handles inventory recovery. None automatically rolls back a town ownership database. Back up town, world and economy data together.
How to choose the stack
First decide whether your map is finite and how new towns are founded. Install one claims/nation core, test a map renderer on a copy of the world and configure one economy. Document map reset and town-data restoration before launch.
- Download each selected plugin from its official publisher and verify the exact server/version requirements.
- Start a disposable staging world; inspect startup logs and dependency warnings before inviting players.
- Test the main gameplay loop as a non-operator, including failure and restart cases.
- Back up plugin data and world files, document ownership of each feature, then expand the stack one component at a time.
