Start with the gamemode core

A Survival Games server depends on repeatable rounds and arena resets. The match engine is the core; editing, lobby and anti-cheat tools are supporting services.

Round engine

Confirm HungerGames supports your server version and desired lobby, countdown, loot and win conditions. Test a two-player game from queue to winner and subsequent round. A successful plugin load does not prove arena resets work.

Build and reset

WorldEdit and FAWE serve a similar editing role; FAWE is generally an alternative implementation, not another plugin to stack alongside WorldEdit. Back up arena templates and test resets with opened chests and broken blocks.

Lobby display

Citizens NPCs and TAB/PlaceholderAPI can advertise queues or status, but only if the match engine exposes the needed values. Verify empty-server, full-match and mid-reset states.

Combat review

Choose one tested anti-cheat and review whether alerts occur during legitimate movement, knockback or spectator transitions. Staff tools and anti-cheat do not fix broken match rules or allow-list configurations.

How to choose the stack

Run an entire round with real test players; destroy blocks, loot chests and force a player disconnect. Confirm rewards, winner selection, spectator access and the next-round reset before scaling.

  1. Download each selected plugin from its official publisher and verify the exact server/version requirements.
  2. Start a disposable staging world; inspect startup logs and dependency warnings before inviting players.
  3. Test the main gameplay loop as a non-operator, including failure and restart cases.
  4. Back up plugin data and world files, document ownership of each feature, then expand the stack one component at a time.
