A Prison server needs an actual mine/rank-up gameplay system before optional cosmetics. Permissions, placeholders, moderation and rollback plugins are shared infrastructure, not Prison gameplay cores.
Prison gameplay core
Start with one Prison plugin and verify that mines, ranks, block selling and resets work on your exact build. LuckPerms, PlaceholderAPI, Staff++ and InventoryRollbackPlus support administration or integration; they do not create a Prison progression loop. Do not treat them as interchangeable Prison cores.
Optional administration and integration
LuckPerms, PlaceholderAPI, Staff++ and InventoryRollbackPlus are optional infrastructure, not alternative Prison cores.
Balances and shops
Choose which plugin owns money and how mining rewards turn into balances. EconomyShopGUI and ShopGUIPlus are shop interfaces to compare, while an economy provider maintains balances. Verify your Prison plugin supports the chosen integration before configuring prices.
Enchants and rewards
Custom enchants, points and crates change how quickly players earn ranks. Test one pickaxe effect at a time, and check whether block-break multipliers, auto-selling or rewards count the same block twice. Set sensible progression caps before adding seasonal passes.
Mine editing and plots
FAWE edits and resets large areas; PlotSquared is a plot-management system, not a general Prison mine-reset engine. Only add plots if player-owned plot worlds are part of your design. Back up the mine world and confirm region protection before scheduling resets.
How to choose the stack
Launch with one mine/rank-up core, one economy backend and clear mine protections. Add Shop or Enchants after confirming rank-up maths. Profile large mine resets at low player count before increasing mine size.
- Download each selected plugin from its official publisher and verify the exact server/version requirements.
- Start a disposable staging world; inspect startup logs and dependency warnings before inviting players.
- Test the main gameplay loop as a non-operator, including failure and restart cases.
- Back up plugin data and world files, document ownership of each feature, then expand the stack one component at a time.
