The defining mechanic is gaining or losing hearts through PvP. LifestealZ provides that gameplay; combat, claims, rewards and rollback tools support it but do not replace the heart mechanic.
Heart mechanics
Confirm what causes a heart transfer: legitimate kills, environmental deaths, combat logging, repeat kills and a player reaching the minimum heart limit. Test the plugin with two ordinary player accounts and read its current configuration instead of assuming every Lifesteal server uses the same rules.
PvP policy
Choose one coherent combat-tagging policy. CombatLogX and PvPManager can overlap; verify how tagging interacts with death penalties, teleports, spawn protection and disconnects. Anti-cheat alerts are evidence for staff, not a substitute for testing false positives.
Rewards and trade
Make sure crates, auctions and player trades cannot duplicate or sell restricted heart items unless that is an intentional feature. Record where hearts enter and leave the economy, then test cancelled purchases and full inventories.
Recovery and administration
LuckPerms controls administration; CoreProtect and InventoryRollbackPlus can help investigate damage or item disputes, but neither should be assumed to reverse a Lifesteal plugin’s custom heart database. Take and restore a separate backup of Lifesteal configuration and player data.
How to choose the stack
First release with LifestealZ and a permissions/backup plan. Add anti-cheat and combat restrictions after kill and reconnect tests. Add reward systems only when you have documented how they affect maximum/minimum hearts.
- Download each selected plugin from its official publisher and verify the exact server/version requirements.
- Start a disposable staging world; inspect startup logs and dependency warnings before inviting players.
- Test the main gameplay loop as a non-operator, including failure and restart cases.
- Back up plugin data and world files, document ownership of each feature, then expand the stack one component at a time.
