Direct answer

Chunky generates selected terrain ahead of time. Configure the correct world and size, start the job, and monitor load and storage while it runs.

Recommended procedure

  1. Create and verify a full world backup before installing or running generators.
  2. Install the Chunky build matching the server software and confirm the plugin starts without errors.
  3. Pick the correct world folder, selection shape, center and radius for the intended player area.

What to change

/chunky start world square 0 0 1000
/chunky progress
/chunky pause
/chunky continue
  1. For a simple square centered at spawn coordinates 0,0 use /chunky start world square 0 0 1000 if your world is named world.
  2. Monitor /chunky progress; pause during player peaks with /chunky pause and resume using /chunky continue.
  3. Pregenerate additional dimensions individually and consider limiting your public exploration area using world border separately.

How to verify the result

Visit the target area after the task finishes; new terrain should arrive without a large burst of generation work compared to before.

Version and compatibility notes

An example world name and 1,000-block radius may not fit your map. Chunky does not automatically shrink the existing world or reclaim disk space. Never confuse /chunky trim with pre-generation.
