Direct answer
Design groups around responsibilities—player, helper, moderator, administrator—instead of giving everyone operator rights.
Recommended procedure
- Inventory the exact permission nodes your active plugins use. Document who needs each capability and which group should provide it.
- In LuckPerms, create named groups and use parent inheritance only in the direction you intend; review with
/lp editor. - Test negative cases using non-OP accounts, especially inventory deletion, bans, economy transfers and role assignment.
Why this matters
Plugins add another compatibility and permission layer. Use the plugin author's current documentation for commands, nodes, and configuration keys.
Important limitation: Some vanilla server commands require OP or an explicit permission mapping; a plugin permission alone might not replace every operator capability.
How to verify the result
- Confirm each staff role can do its necessary job but cannot use a higher-impact command.
Version and compatibility notes
- When a setting, command, or file name differs from this guide, stop and check the documentation for your exact Minecraft/server-software version instead of forcing an old example.
