Direct answer
“End of Stream” means a connection ended before the protocol exchange finished. Check the server/proxy log at the exact time rather than assuming it means low bandwidth.
What it means
A stream can close after a server restart, authentication refusal, protocol mismatch, proxy timeout or abrupt network reset. The same client-side message can have different server-side causes.
If you are a player
- Test with a clean client of the correct version and record whether it fails during login or in-game.
- If several players disconnect simultaneously, report the exact time and whether the server went offline.
If you run the server
- Check backend and proxy logs for the earliest disconnect cause; look for process restarts or exception traces.
- Compare account authentication, proxy forwarding and version/loader compatibility only as suggested by the logs.
- If only one network is affected, test from a second network without modifying server security.
- Reproduce once with packet-manipulating plugins temporarily disabled on an isolated staging server if logs implicate them.
Confirm the fix: Verify at least two consecutive successful logins and sustained play. Avoid blanket workarounds such as disabling authentication.
Important notes
- Packet exceptions often wrap the real cause. Keep the full nested exception and identify the first plugin/mod/protocol component named in it.
