Direct answer
A “mismatched mod channel list” error points to incompatible mod networking channels. Compare the exact mod loader, modpack release and server-required mods on both sides.
What it means
Forge-family loaders register network channels during handshake. Merely matching the displayed Minecraft version is not enough when a mod changes or removes a required channel.
If you are a player
- Launch the precise modpack profile provided by the server, including its loader version.
- Export the client mod list and copy the full disconnect reason without pasting private account tokens.
If you run the server
- Compare client and server mod IDs and versions, starting with mods listed in the handshake/log error.
- Check mod loader build compatibility before exchanging JAR files.
- Remove duplicate or wrong-loader JARs from a staged server copy, preserving the production modpack.
- For modpacks, replace the entire pack with a known matching release instead of guessing individual updates.
Confirm the fix: Validate a join with the matching pack, then repeat after restarting both sides. Do not change authentication to bypass a mod-channel mismatch.
